The word “drifting”, when referring to driving maneuvers, indicates precisely a controlled skid in which the car completely loses control of the rear and is controlled only by means of the front. The researchers of the Toyota Research Institute are studying this driving technique, in collaboration with the Dynamic Design Lab of the prestigious Stanford University, to achieve an ambitious and almost sci-fi vision: make sure that every driver can have the reflexes of a professional driver and the predictions of a supercomputer able to avoid any accident in the car. The project aims to combine the experiences of racing and drifting professionals with the technology of vehicle automation combined with artificial intelligence algorithms. The final result provides an incredible new level of active safety created by Toyota and then shared with other brands.
OBJECTIVE: ZERO FATAL ACCIDENTS
Every year, car accidents cause nearly 40,000 deaths in the United States and about 1.25 million deaths worldwide. Toyota’s goal is to reduce that number to zero. ” Every day fatal accidents happen, resulting from extreme situations where most drivers would need superhuman skills to avoid a collision,” says Gill Pratt, CEO of Toyota Research Institute and Chief Scientist of Toyota Motor Corporation. “The reality is that every driver has vulnerabilities and, to avoid an accident, drivers often have to perform maneuvers that go beyond their capabilities. Through this project, TRI will learn from some of the world’s most experienced pilots to develop sophisticated control algorithms that boost human driving skills and keep people safe”.
CAR SAFETY TODAY
While waiting for the technological advances that will lead the new cars to be increasingly automated, what can we do to improve the level of driving safety? Definitely relying on certified and guaranteed products in terms of quality and reliability, such as the new line of Cofle brake hoses , which extends the already wide range of After Market products in our catalogue.
The new Cofle brake hoses are designed with OEM technology, and respect the rigid characteristics of the original products; a car that mounts a Cofle brake hose, is synonymous with safety.
Cofle brake hoses, rely on good hands.
